Scholarships for students starting in 2025

We are pleased to offer a variety of scholarships for international students, including:

• Undergraduate International Excellence Scholarships: 50% of tuition fees each year for a maximum of three years on eligible programmes. (Application required)
• Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarships: awards between £3,500 to £10,000 to eligible postgraduate-taught students in the form of a tuition fee discount. (Automatically awarded)
• Cardiff University India Scholarships: £5,000 offered as a tuition fee discount to eligible postgraduate, India-domiciled students. (Automatically awarded)
• Red Dragon Scholarship: £3,000 offered as a tuition fee discount to eligible postgraduate, China-domiciled students. (Application required)
• GREAT Scholarships: £10,000 towards tuition fees for students from China, Indonesia, and Pakistan enrolling in eligible one-year postgraduate programmes. (Application required)
• Women in STEM Scholarships: full tuition fees, living cost stipend of £1,603 per month, IELTS exam fees, return travel expenses, visa, insurance, and other study-related expenses. (Application required)
• MBA Public Value Scholarship: £7,500 award to eligible students on any Cardiff University MBA programme. (Application required)

Future changes

You may have seen our recent announcement about proposed changes to a small selection of the courses we plan to offer in the future.

We want to reassure you that students holding offers for courses commencing in September 2025 will not be affected by these proposals.

Providing students meet the conditions of their offer (if applicable), they will be able to study their course in September and we look forward to welcoming them.

Proposals for our 2026 intake are currently being discussed, and we will be able to update you on this in the summer.

Pre-sessional programmes

Our pre-sessional English programmes are designed to help international students prepare for their studies at Cardiff University. These courses support students in meeting language requirements and adjusting to university life before their degree begins.

If a student successfully completes the relevant pre-sessional course, there is no need to retake an IELTS test.
