We are reaching out to inform you of the reduced English language requirements for Durham's pre-sessional courses.

As a reminder, our pre-sessional courses are designed to help students develop the academic language and literacy skills they will need to succeed in their academic department. The courses are open to students who hold an offer for a Durham University degree programme but have narrowly missed their language condition. The attached document outlines the amendments, comparing the previous English language entry requirements to the new ones. These changes are applicable to the current and all future cycles. The document refers to IELTS tests, but we will also accept other recognised tests at the new IELTS equivalence. The website does not currently reflect these changes, but it will be updated shortly. To avoid confusion, please refer to the attached document only.
