Hello,

Our August newsletter contains all the guidance you need to help your applicants with common queries during this pre-arrival period. We understand applicants are now turning their thoughts to registration, visa and BRP, so we have you covered to help your applicants over the line.

Pre-arrival guide

Our September 2024 Pre-arrival Guide is now live on the Herts website. We are circulating this to all applicants as they reach CAS stage and encouraging them to read through to help them on the final steps with their journey to Herts.

Our guide covers everything students will need to know, including; checklists, bank accounts, accommodation, airport collection and registration deadlines.

Please familiarise yourself with the content to help you with any queries.

CAS are being issued daily for applicants who have cleared all requirements on their application.

Airport collection and arrival form

Our free airport collection from Heathrow to campus is now available for offer holders to book. The coaches are at 11.00, 15.00 and 19.00 on Saturday 14th September, and 12:00 noon and 18:00 on Sunday 15th September. Places must be booked in advance and spaces are limited.

We also ask all applicants to complete the overseas arrival form to let us know updates regarding their visa, accommodation and arrival dates. Please help us encourage your applicants to fill in this form when they know their travel date.

Agent guidance - Pre-arrival training

We recently hosted our agent training session on all things pre-arrival, just so you know the process and what we are communicating to offer holders! The session recording is now available on YouTube.

Don't worry we have covered everything you might get asked on the run up to start of term.

Social live sessions and tips

Over the next 2 months, we will be posting start of term tips on our social channels, to remind applicants of things which will help them settle into life in the UK, such as tap water being safe to drink and how to get discount bus tickets.

To accompany the other start of term preparation, we are also hosting some instagram lives to allow applicants to meet some of the support teams on campus and get their common questions answered.

We have already hosted a session with accommodation. Next up is our careers team, followed by registration and Ask Herts!

All sessions are saved to reels to allow applicants to rewatch.

Pre-arrival webinar for offer holders

Our pre-arrival webinar designed for September 2024 applicants covers all the key areas they need to plan for. All offer holders are invited to join one of our live sessions as they reach CAS stage. Each session ends with Q&A so we can help with anything they are still unsure on.

We will continue to run these sessions weekly across a range of time zones.

Keys for Herts’ flagship building Spectra handed over as multi-million-pound project reaches major milestone

The University of Hertfordshire’s flagship, multi-million-pound science and engineering building, Spectra, met a major milestone this week, as most of the building work has been completed.

The keys for the five-floor building, which will house the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science and transform learning, teaching and research in STEM fields, have now officially been handed over to the University from lead contractor Morgan Sindall Construction.

Spectra will be the largest single structure on campus and will be a hub for innovation, research and enterprise. Its cutting-edge facilities and equipment will expand Herts’ range of study and research options and increase its capacity for high quality, real-world research impact.

Now the University has taken control of the building, it will complete the internal fit-out, with IT, audio-visual, furniture and specialist equipment, before the building opens its doors to staff and students in September.

University of Hertfordshire Unveils Propeller Stage One: A Game-Changer for Film and TV Training

The University of Hertfordshire is launching Propeller Stage One, a cutting-edge film studio designed to deliver top-tier training in creative and technical skills for the booming film and TV industry.

This initiative responds to the BFI UK Skills Review's forecast of 21,000 new jobs needed in the creative sector by 2025.

Propeller Stage One will replicate major film studio standards. It aims to solidify Hertfordshire's reputation as the UK's "Hollywood" by providing industry-relevant training to meet the workforce demands.

Already the UK's top filming destination, Hertfordshire has produced hits like Barbie, Eastenders, The Crown, Jurassic World, and Harry Potter. Home to five major studios—Elstree, Warner Brothers Leavesden, Sky, and BBC Studioworks—the county is a major production hub. In partnership with Hertfordshire Film Office and Screen Hertfordshire, Propeller Stage One is part of a movement to support the county's flourishing TV and film industry. Screen Hertfordshire connects industry, council, and education providers to promote Herts as the next big filmmaking destination.
