Season's Greetings from Macquarie University

Dear

With the end of 2024 fast approaching, we bring to a close our 60th Anniversary celebrations, in what has undoubtedly been a challenging year not only in our sector but all across the globe.

And yet despite the constant uncertainty, together we have successfully overcome many of the difficulties faced. ‘You to the power of us’ has real meaning for our community and I hope you feel a deep sense of appreciation from me, and from the Macquarie team for the terrific work that you do.

In more recent news. the results of the 2023 QILT Student Experience Survey (SES) have just been released and it gives me great pleasure to see Macquarie University's continued strength in teaching quality at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Our agent management team have also launched the Macquarie StudyLink Agent Portal - a 'one stop shop' for agents and career counsellors. I encourage you to please check out the valuable resources that are now available to you and share the news with your colleagues.

On the back of our Top 50 in the world ranking for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, one of our staff members has recently also been awarded AI Academic/Researcher of the Year award, at the inaugural Australian AI Awards. Yet another reflection of Macquarie University's position as a global leader in higher education.

As we get ready to pause for some down time over the holiday season, I wanted to thank you again for your continued trust and collaboration this year. Together, we look forward to creating an even brighter future in 2025, one student at a time.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and enjoyable time during the holiday season and as always, our team is here to assist you in any way we can. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Country Manager.

Warm regards,

Lee-ann Norris

MACQUARIE STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Meet Kevin Hwang

Senior International Country Manager, Northeast Asia & Eurasia

Kevin, our Senior Country Manager (Northeast Asia & Eurasia) enjoys building plastic models and watching movies (especially thrillers) in his spare time.

His first impression of Macquarie was the friendliness of the staff, and his supportive colleagues are one of the reasons why he has been working at Macquarie for almost two decades.

In his job he gets to travel to different countries and meet new people from all walks of life, and what he enjoys is speaking to prospective students about their motivation for coming to Sydney and Macquarie, which differ market to market.

Having had the experience of being an international student in Australia himself, his advice to students is to be proactive - while he can show them the way (by sharing all the options available to them), they must open the door themselves.

His favourite place to take visitors on campus is the Sensory Space where the resting pods are located.

Kevin is based in Sydney and is a proud father of a 14-year-old daughter.
