The University of Tasmania has had a busy few months in the international space, with many recruitment and partnerships activities taking place across Africa and Asia. The Vice-Chancellor visited Singapore and India, while our Executive Director, Michelle Weir, traveled to Singapore with the Australian national basketball champions for 2024, the Tasmania JackJumpers. Additionally, our Associate Director, International, Helen McClure, visited several of our international markets to enhance collaboration and partnerships.

2024 has been a challenging year for the international higher education sector in Australia. However, with a generous cap allocation and ample student accommodation, we're excited for what 2025 will bring. Hobart and Launceston make affordable and fantastic study options for your students, with Hobart offering the lowest median rent of all Australian capital cities.

This interdisciplinary program addresses key issues linking Australia with the Antarctic and the Southern Ocean, opening up diverse career opportunities in climate services and forecasting, sustainability and resource management, carbon accounting and management, the Antarctic workforce, and big data and AI. In 2025, we will be launching a new major, Oceans, Ice and Climate, which will replace the Oceanography major.
