The College will operate with limited services during 30 December 2024 to 6 January 2025 and there may be delays in processing enquiries.From Monday 6 January 2025, normal opening hours will apply from 8.30am to 5pm. Preparing your students for the new semesterWe encourage all new students commencing studies in Semester 1, 2025 to arrive in Perth at least one week prior to the start of their classes and to attend UWA Orientation Week (O-Week), from 17 to 21 February 2025. To ensure a smooth transition at UWA, it is advised that students plan to arrive in Perth with sufficient time to attend this action-packed week and start the semester fully prepared.For new students coming to PerthVisit UniStartAll new students need to complete the steps listed on the UniStart page. Please support your students to complete as much as possible in the enrolment process via Student Connect before they arrive in Western Australia. This includes enrolling in units, submitting their timetable preferences in CAS, visiting LMS and registering for O-Week events.Pre-Departure SessionsPlease encourage students who are commencing in Semester 1, 2025 to register and join one of the online Pre-Departure Sessions through Microsoft Teams to receive tips and advice from our friendly UWA team, helping them settle into their upcoming studies.For new students who have arrived in PerthGetting Started SessionsIf you know of students who have already arrived in Perth, we suggest they register and attend one of the in-person Getting Started Sessions hosted at our main Perth campus over the summer. This is a great chance for them to gain enrolment tips, explore the campus with a current student and speak with our friendly UWA staff.Attending O-WeekDuring O-Week, we strongly encourage students to plan and attend their School/Course-specific session, the International Student Welcome Session, and the Student Expo. The UWA Welcome Ceremony and UWA Guild O-Day are also highly recommended.Students will need to register for their relevant sessions via the UniStart Orientation Planner, which will be available from Thursday 19 December 2024.Useful resources and programsStudent Advising OfficesOnce a student has accepted their offer to study with UWA, they will be assigned to a Student Advising Office based on their course. As you may be aware, recipients of UWA's Global Excellence Scholarship and International Student Award are required to maintain continued satisfactory progress throughout their studies, in accordance with the rule for their course and scholarship terms and conditions.As part of a recent review of academic progress, some Global Excellence Scholarship and International Student Award recipients have not met the continuation criteria for good academic standing. Depending on their progress, impacted students will have received correspondence from the Student Administration team advising that their scholarship has been suspended or that they need to increase their Weighted Average Mark (WAM) by the end of Semester 2, 2024 to retain their scholarship.Students’ academic success is very important to us, and we have several support services in place to assist them with either retaining or regaining their scholarship. This includes academic skills sessions and access to health and wellbeing services. Students can also reach out to the International Student Support team to book an appointment or contact their Student Advising Office if they have questions about course requirements.We understand this change in scholarship status may present financial difficulties for students whose scholarships have been suspended. To help alleviate this, we are offering an extended due date for their fees until the end of Semester 2, and we will not impose any late fees.Please be assured that we are committed to the academic success of all students and are available to provide any additional guidance or resources as required.
